About Karen Swift

Hi, I’m Karen Swift. Welcome to Swift Learning Solutions.

I’m an Orton-Gillingham therapeutic tutor specializing in math and reading with primary, elementary and middle school students. I’ve been doing this for 35 years. What I’ve discovered is that every child is unique and the more I can adapt to their individual learning needs, the faster and easier they’ll learn.

At first, my main focus is to build trust. We begin right away with finding some things your child has already learned and some things they don’t know. We’ll get to work on the missing pieces of the pie while developing a lovely relationship. I welcome all of their acting out behaviours or maybe your child gets anxious and withdraws. Whatever their reaction to learning, they weren’t born like that. If I can find a way to help tear down the walls, very gently, your child can learn anything. Trust is the first step.

I welcome all feedback from you and the rest of your family. The more we can work together as a team, the faster your child can learn and relax. You have successfully taught your child to walk, talk, dress, and much more. You learned how to adapt to your child. This is all helpful information for me. Please don’t be shy. Feel free to tell me anything you feel isn’t working for your child and make suggestions as to how I can do better. I look forward to working with you.
